What to buy for Back To School || FashionBarbie

BACK TO SCHOOL

Before the start of school, almost everyone will head to the mall (or perhaps till this date online shopping?) to shop for new pieces for back to school. What is essential to buy and what not to buy so that you would not overspend or waste your money is the key to this blog post.

After wearing school uniforms to school for the past few years, I finally get to wear home/ casual clothes to school! Hooray to this! How to wear uniquely and impress others without overdoing? And also, at the same time not "craving" a big hole in your wallet.

Here are what I have discovered after my first year in polytechnic:

You do not really need make up for school unless you want to. HEHEHE.

1. Base

I have been using Nutrimetric BB cream my aunt bought for me and my twin and we have been using it for years. It contains SPF 55 sunscreen. Make morning make up easier and faster. Definitely protects my face from UV rays.

2. Eyes

I have been using the color faint in my Urban Decay Naked Basic USD$27 to fill in my eye brows. I received compliments on how natural it looks. Recently, I have switched to eye brow pencils from The Face Shop in color 02 (Light Brown) or sometimes I use color 03 (Black Brown). They only cost me SGD $7.90 each. If you are also a student from Nanyang Polytechnic, remember to head to the shopping arcade they do sells some of The Face Shop make up products and NYP students get discounts!

I seldom apply eye shadows or eyeliner to school. I have been using my Cover Girl Travel Kit Platte USD$7.90(?), I bought in USA. I have checked with Sephora Singapore in Takashimaya and found out Singapore have stopped importing cover girl make up products for the past few years... Dear Cover girl, if you happen to find this blog post of mine, please do import back to Singapore. Thanks you very much. As for eyeliner, I uses Revlon ColorStay liquid eyeliner in dark brown SGD$18.90. I bought Collection's eyeliner at SGD$14.50 in shopping arcade in school. Both works wonder and they really stay for very long hours.

3. Lips

The most important part of your face ever. Usually I will just apply lip balm that moisturise very well and also cost less than SGD$4.50 at any local drug stores. Classrooms with air condition will cause your lips to chap really badly so reapply whenever you can.

For accessories

This is optional but I will still put on one or two pieces.

1. Ear

I do not wear earrings because my ears are quite sensitive as I grow older I do not know why. Earrings can be annoying whenever it got tangled with my hair. Hence, this will cause hair fall.

2. Necklace

Recently a company called Bicycle.sg sent me a statement necklace that they asked me to do a review on them. I did a review on them with a HOW TO: Match statement pieces with statement necklace outfit post. THEY ARE REALLY PRETTY! I will match them whenever I wear a plain tee shirt.

3. Rings

I only own a couple ring that my ex gave it to me. We were sweet. You know the bad omen about couple rings...

4. Watches

I am actually a lover in Harajuku fashion. I do not really own classical watches. I own three watches of the same theme- DORAEMON! They are all cheap yet cute watches my mummy got from me in some random street stall on her way to the market ranging at SGD$5 - SGD$10 each.

5. Bracelet

Like watches with the mini clocks. I have only bought one bracelet in my life which is from Shana Collection at SGD$8.90. The rest of the bracelet that were featured are gifts from my kin. I have been window shopping around my favourite shop - H&M. They offer a range of simple yet chic minimalist accessories starting from as cheap as SGD$5.90. SGD$1 if they were at sales. I got the shock in my life when I saw the price listed on the price tags. I have been wasting all of my pocket money in my entire life...

6. Anklet

I do not own any. So sorry I can't help you in this. No worry my best friend, Google is always willing to help you on a 24/7 basis! *Bright smile*

For clothes

1. Top

Statement/ essential pieces like basic tops. The colors of the basics tops I own are mostly white and black. You do not need to buy a lot of basics to last you for a week. In total, you need at least 2-3 of them (NOT of each color), you can choose other colors of your choice too. Have at least one plain top. I bought my white basic tops from H&M at SGD$7.90.

2. Outer Wear

Another form of statement pieces will be outer wear. You will feel cold... Trust me... You are not frosty the snowman. The best choice of outer wear will be cardigan. I own a black cardigan from La Lu at SGD$59. It have a blazer like design. I wear it as a cardigan blazer too during presentation day. I am not required to dress formally during presentation day for the diploma that I am pursuing. For a casual day, I will wear my long cardigan I got from JRunway at SGD$19 in their sale section. Some of the pieces from JRunway are really cute but they are really expensive. Remember to ask the cashier if they have FREE membership sign up!!! I signed up for their membership for free.

3. Leggings/ Tights

Not really a fan of these. Nowadays, legging pants are designed to look like real colored denim jeans. I bought mine from random trolley shop in two different colors -mint and green at SGD$18 each or SGD$25 for two pieces. I match the green legging pants with my black basic tee. Warm colors with warm colors, cool colors with cool colors. Remember this magic rule and it will make matching of outfits much easier.

4. Dresses

Shirt dresses are a you- should- have in your wardrobe for the coming year. I will definitely matching it with my favourite denim jacket that my mommy gave it to me or maybe a cool colored plaid blouse as an outer wear.

For shoes

Comfy shoes is a must. I am not a fan of flats because they always give me blisters. Ewww... I am always a fan of sneakers!

1. Covered Shoes

Denim print sneakers or sneakers with graphic prints is a must to have in your shoe collections. I have two pairs of sneakers so that I could have a spare to change when I wash the other one. My denim sneakers are from BATA at only SGD $22.90. My Vans with jewel prints were bought in USA at a half price at USD $7.90 because I bought two pairs of vans. They were sold at Seattle's Premium Outlet at buy one and get 50% off for the second one.I do have a pair boat shoes for formal wear day. Sorry I am really not a lawyer's outfit look book person. I am so NOT sorry actually opps!

2. Heels

Walking from the subway to the campus and then up to my class is like walking from one end of the great wall of china to another end of the great wall of china. The only heels I will wear to school will be a pathetic one inch Office Lady's black heel. Wait. Does the modern office lady wear one inch heel? or more?! Face palm to myself. I lost. My budget for heels will be less than $25. The cheapest I have ever bought for myself will be from H&M at SGD$10. Yes. 10 bucks for a pair of heels.

For Bags

I am required to bring a laptop on most days for school. My peers are always seeing me in school with a backpack. I suggest that anyone who needs to bring a laptop to school to buy a backpack. As you are wearing a backpack, it balance out the weight of your bag evenly on both of your shoulders. Especially for females who will have a higher chance of diagnosing with scoliosis (s- shaped spine).

What is scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a disorder that causes an abnormal curve of the spine, or backbone. The spine has normal curves when looking from the side, but it should appear straight when looking from the front.

It is very important for everyone to keep a good posture whenever they are sitting or standing. Suffering from scoliosis is very painful. Do not worry about carrying around the campus with a ugly backpack. As long as you have a charisma, whatever you wear, people will see it as cute!

I hope that I did not miss out any important part on what to buy for Back To School! Have fun shopping and all the bless! :)

Sorry I do not have a facebook page. I have recently deleted my twitter account. Lately my twitter's timeline had been surfacing a lot of negative comments. I do not need them in my life. Moreover, my BFFs will inform me of any funny updates on twitter. Even though I do not have a twitter account already, I still have weibo!

STAY POSTIVE!

OOTD #32: Birthday Outfit

OOTD #32: Birthday Outfit

Crop top from Cotton On // Outer wear from Eliina Chan // Denim Jeans from Forever 21
Really thankful to Aunty Patty and her kin for choosing my very first handbag during their stay in Hong Kong!

So, Forever 21. I would really love to collaborate with you. In my mind, I am thinking who am I to be collaborating with them. But I would really love to. I love F21.

I am always a beach lover but even until today none of my friends had ever ask me out to the beach. Always imagine myself wearing a muscle tee and a booty cut denim shorts. *Cross fingers* No bikinis until I have my desire body.  I need to preserver and never get fat. To be honest, I have no idea why, I am starting to hate my body. The negative energy of what my old friends told me about my looks and outfit kept haunting me for months. I am really doing my very best to be positive.

Nonetheless, This week started really awesome. Peanut Chan was born on Sunday! I was not working on that day which means I GOT TO VISIT HIM IN THE HOSPITAL! He is a mixed race - his dad is a Chinese while his petite fashionable mommy is a Malay. Read his blog that his mommy created for him. You will too fall in love with him at first sight!

Spent a whole day with a closed friend of mine yesterday to celebrate my 20th birthday. I am totally thankful for her making it a annual celebration. I will disclose what happen yesterday on my next post. Keep on reading and get updated!
