Top 5 Boot Care Tips by King Ranch Saddle Shop

I still remember the last few days staying in the winter of Vancouver. The air was cold and my skin became drier than when I first foot into North America.

I was wearing my cousin's boots. It was a wine red high knee leather boots (similar to these). I need to take at least 5 minutes to put them on. That was the very first time I wear a pair of shoes that covered beyond my ankles. Walking in high knee boots were not as difficult as I thought since they fit me perfectly.

The winter weather can be really nasty. My friends back in Vancouver even shared with me that they seldom wash their cars during winter as they will get dirty easily. The aftermath of snowing turns the ground into brown and greyish colour and it's so slippery. This is the time I thanked my cousin for her pair of boots.

I wonder how do people keep their shoes that they may or not wear often in tip top condition? King Ranch Saddle Shop shared with me their Top 5 Boot Care Tips. And, if you are looking for a pair of classic cowboy boots or a stylish and femine cowgirl boots, be sure to check out King Ranch's collection of boots for both men and women!

On the final night, I brought a pair of Sav's rain boots at Costco before I started to pack for home. They have florals designs. The weather in Singapore makes the glue of footwear wear off easily because of the heat. Up till now, it has been 3 years and my rain boots are still in shape. I only wear them once a year, mostly for Anime Festival Asia. The trick I did to keep them in shape is to store them indoors and stuff newspaper into the boots. Similar to how you take care of leather bags.

Now it hits me to recall my favourite black booties. It was my first pair of black ankle boots with heels. I brought them along with me to BC. I wore them to watch The Nutcracker and walked along the Christmas markets with the locals.

As most of you should know that I live in Singapore. The tiny red dot that resides on the equator of mother earth. I get to enjoy the summer every day. Supposedly due to the humid weather, the skin of the leather boots started to peel off when I was back in Singapore. King Ranch Saddle Shop told me that I need to condition my booties and even shared with me some tips on how to take care of leather products.

How interesting. If not for King Ranch Saddleshop, I would never ever learn to wash my leather boots. I am really excited to get a new pair of boots after I received my pay cheque!

P/S: I have found a new part-time job, guys! Wish me all the best!

What have happened to your blog?

Hello there!

I hope you have missed me and my blog. You may have stumbled across my blog with broken links or there are some images still missing or off.

This was what have happened:
I was trying to change privacy setting in my Google plus and unintentionally set the privacy for this blog to "private". I thought the change would mean that the photos that are uploaded in this blog will not be available in search.

I was wrong.

I immediately set the privacy of my blog to private.

I took a few days to calm myself down. Feeling so annoyed and frustrated, I read through my very first blog posts to the most recent ones. And I deleted 100+ of them. You may be thinking how crazy am I. And yes, most of the blog posts worth thousands of views.

However, those were the posts that seem rather positive but behind the scenes, they were requests and suggestions by my "friends". The unrealistic luxuries that caused holes in both my wallet and pocket.

Some of which were my requests; I thought of treating myself for working hard and got paid off. The friends who tagged along were not happy as it seems to them that those are the places that are too cheap or not popular.

Almost everytime, they will ask me to take pictures of every single shit we do and go and then post it to my blog, when all I wanted to do was to enjoy the moments with them. Then again, when I show signs of annoyed, they rebuked me that I was not being appreciative at all. They say that they are trying to help me to find inspiration and gain popularity on my blog. They can really nag all the way back from town to home. I know right, #GirlsDrama. The initial intention of creating this blog was not to gain anything. LOL...

There were also other really harsh remarks. For example, the way I dress. I kid you not, I can even receive criticisms over simple, casual and comfy clothes - Tee shirts and shorts.

How dramatic that it makes my heart sinks.

So, I deleted them all and I have never gotten this happy!

PHEW! This blog has documented half of my life. I have really changed a lot over the past 5 years. The first time I received an email from a reader who emailed and say that she likes my blog ( Sorry that I did not reply to you as I was shy. If you are still reading my blog. Thank you so much! ), to the up and coming emails from the other side of the globe.

One important key that I really need to work on will definitely be- not to take in every single remark seriously or harshly. Everyone comes from all walks of life. What you have experienced, do not mean everyone does. The numbers of years you have lived on earth does not compute your level of maturity. The.... Blah blah blah blahhhh... getting back the positive energy from everyone.

*Absorbing in process*

Anyway, this blog skin that you are seeing will not be here for long. I do need more time to change it and style it to my comfort.

Right now, you may wonder why have not I migrate my blog to WordPress as they have ready-made responsive web templates for me to choose.

Well. The answer is raw. Blogger and this blog are where I regained my confidence and motivation. I accrue most of my inspiration from the drafts that may make it to the next publish. Unless Google retires Blogger, this blog domain will still stay as ".blogspot.com" .

Nonetheless, I do hope you love my logo ( my blog banner and the small icon stamped on the bottom right of my display picture)! There is a story behind the graphic visual and the choice of colors.

My favorite color is blue so I use blue as the base color.

Purple stands for royal and loyal. Purple always present as the rich. The royalties put on the purple garments as their servants serve them loyally. In my logo, purple holds a strong message about the price tag of every clothes- "It is not about how expensive the clothes that you are wearing cost. It is how you can pull them off. "

If you have sharp eyes or have learned about hue and saturation on colors, you might be about to spot a dashed pink. The choice of pink is really cheesy. In my logo, the choice of pink comes from the movie- Mean Girls. So ladies, remember on Wednesday we wear PINK! I was actually watching the movie while designing the logo. Hahaha

I am also very excited to come out with more creative contents and visuals for the upcoming blog posts and get them watermarked with my logo! I cannot wait for my secret project that I am working on and plan to share it with everyone after I graduated from my diploma.

Stay happy and positive, everyone!

Spending the nights in my P.J. (Shirley C's style)

My school holidays have started four weeks ago and I am pretty much enjoying every bit of it. I have so much rest and I am loving it! Although I am still jobless.

Well, I did go for an intensive job hunting which all turned out foul. So, is there anyone out there with a job vacancy for me? I do hope to find one that it could last me even when school reopens. The cost of living in Singapore is way too much for me to handle and I really do need a part- time job that can aid in my school expenses.

I met two new friends during internship; who are also my coursemates. We have not spoken to each other before until then. They are the ones who have created joyous moments during the remaining 12 weeks stay in the company. One of them even introduced to me this show-

I am currently at Season 5 Episode 8 of Modern Family! I have started watching this show somewhere near to the end of the internship. This long series really did help me to relax a lot. I am obsessed with this show! With the legit no-makeup, I lounge in my favourite sleepwear- a long sleeve and a pair of comfy short shorts.  This is the ultimate best part of my lazy holidays that I am looking for.

I feel a lot more energetic after sleeping and being unproductive for a good two and the half weeks. All of the sudden, I have a deep reflection on how harsh I am treating myself. The amount of stress and burden I have made myself carry that actually weighs more than my weight.

At this point of time, I should concern more on how to give my very best for my academic instead of money. Almost all of the time, my mind is thinking about money. I risked my bank amount and quitted my part- time job at a local cafe in my neighbourhood because I felt that I was consistently verbally assaulted by a full- time staff on my religion and intelligent. All thanks for her harsh treatment, I believed I have mastered the art of endurance and patient. This form of art has truly saved me from a number of obstacles.

A quote from Michelle Obama:
You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own.

After the exhaustive internship, I have decided to give myself a break. I have taken this holiday to rejuvenate, to find myself and explore the wonders of Singapore. I have been to Adventure Cove, Tiong Bahru Estate (again), experience hair removal using sugaring and start to train for my very first Sundown marathon in next March. I have even constructed a website for my aunt who works as a property agent. Please do give her a like on her Facebook!

I spend almost every night keeping up with new animes like Orange ( I LIKE CURRY BUNS! ). My ideal nights are pretty much in my sleepwear and rolling on the bed before I grab my devices and start the drama marathon. What is your ideal night?

Anyway, I am definitely pretty pumped up now and I cannot wait for the new and unexpected adventures that are coming up! Wish me luck everyone!

Diary: What was my objective of this blog?

I have been spending my time working for a clutch of positivity for as long as I could remember.
I pump in all of my efforts to complete them to the best that I could.
I have enough.

I work for my passion. A passion that has turned a once negative girl to a pistachio (and part-time Harley Quinn).

Many thought I earn money from this hobby but I actually do not earn money from here...
I started to blog with a thought that I could document my fashion styles which I could finally afford after working part time.

Then things changed. In the most horrifying manner that I could not imagine.
Money got scary.
Social media become a money making tool.
Peeps assume that I earn big bucks from the campaigns that I have published on my blog.
Actually no.

I want to.

I need to learn how.

I did give it a try.

Added google ads on my blog but it was repeatedly denied.

However, I did somehow learn something from my blog.

Through blogging, I have earn friends.

The representatives who emailed me to participate in their campaigns. The emails are always filled with positive thoughts and excitement. Seeking for participants very politely. When I received my very first email, I was in Canada ( Hehehe... you must have thought about some idioms, right? ). I actually ask for money.

My heart raced fast cos I thought I will never receive any reply from them again.

Shortly after, they replied. They replied with sincerity. I could feel the earnest from the email. They apologised that they could not offer me any credits. Without hesitation, I drafted my very first blog advertisement post. All thanks to this company I earned my very first collaboration.

And then after which, more emails came.

Recently, I created a new email for blog collaborations purposes.

I was happy.

However, for the past few weeks. I feel the tension. The anxiety that I am experiencing.
I somehow forgot what was the reason I created this blog.

I am still in a deep thought. I am still trying to find an answer to my question that I asked myself.

What was my objective of this blog?

OOTD #46: Diner En Blanc Avec Vous

Hey ladies,

I need to have a heart to heart talk with you. Which is, I would really love to hear about what do you think of my blog.

Honestly, I would occasionally read my own blog. I spot the grammar errors, the type of passive words I use to elevate the muse of the contents. And then, I realized that I always create contents which target on women.

In a few of my blog posts ( e.g OOTD #41: The Lust Vegas ), I always attach phrases like,

" .. now guys, you can now match up with your pretty ladies.."

there is never once it is the lady who matches her outfit with her gentleman in my blog. And yes ladies, for this post you will have to match up with your guy for a Diner En Blanc.

What is Diner En Blanc?

"...the mysterious “Dinner in White” or Diner en Blanc (because it’s a French tradition), a global dining event that despite the veil of secrecy shrouding it, spreads to more cities every year on its way to becoming an international phenomenon. It happens just once a year, in the summer: By the hundreds and thousands, on a date determined city by city, people around the world, dressed in white, meet at a beautiful, central public location to share a gourmet dinner with friends. "

So ladies, here is the mission!

Here is an inspiring outfit with the White Jacket Tuxedo which you can get it for him, from The Black Tux 's Tuxedos & Suits collection.

So ladies, are you ready for your match-a-mation?
Sorry, you do not have a chance to say no. Do not forget who is always the one who match up with you. YOUR PARTNER.

Now, unleash your inner fashion soul. Tell me your style.

What what ??? You cannot decide? You do not know?

That is how your partner feels whenever you say "How can you not knowww??? "

Do not fear. Cos' your fashion god-mother, me, is going to help you.

Now think. What does white reminds you of?
White associates with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is considered to be the color of perfection.

and yes, WEDDING
Allow me introduce to you - The Wedding Guest Style Guide by The Black Tux

Now you have 5 mins to decide when a guy can get ready in 5 mins!
Now 3... 2... 1... *GO*
You are taking too long girl.

I am going to style all of you in this white dress I wore to my girl friend Eliina's wedding. The perfect LWD ( Little White Dress ) for all occasion.

The main objective of the dinner is to have fun and relax while you enjoy your food under the starry sky. Other than your tables, chairs and utensils. Do not bring too many stuffs so that your man can be free from being your nanny for at least a night.

How can you still look fabulous?
Make up. Just a simple make up look will do. And when I say simple, it is not exactly simple. You add on to the word SIMPLE.

The only thing I will do to my beautiful face will be my eyebrows! For this look I will add in something extra - BLUE EYELINER.

Yes! I have finally bought my blue eyeliner! Tell me how pretty am I ~
One of the boards have fell off and left a "scar" on the wall. Hahaha.
Now you are all ready for 4th of July and also your Diner En Blanc.

Empowering woman of the Year 2016- Iskra

According to my personal self- built database, the most empowering woman of Year 2015 goes to....
*Drum roll*

None other than- ASHLEY GRAHAM!

A photo posted by A S H L E Y G R A H A M (@theashleygraham) on

She is the reason behind how many women suffer from low self-esteem, have reformed and learn to love themselves even more. She is a big girl. And so, big girls don't cry.

For this random blog post of mine, I have decided to choose my most favourite woman who meets the criteria like Miss Universe - Beauty with a purpose and feature her as THE EMPOWERING WOMAN OF THE YEAR 2016. According to me, of course!

The winner issssssssss
*search the entire Shirley Charlin's database*
...our beloved Miss Iskra! The photo below was what inspired me to write this blog post.

✨ I had almost forgotten what I used to look like when I was battling with my body and my own thoughts of self loathing. One of my dearest gfs @iammelwells sent this pic to me today of us both when we were trying to break into the modelling industry. 👭I never knew that she was struggling with the same thoughts as me and neither did she know I was. 👩‍❤️‍👩The two young women in this photo both thought they were fat and too big. would pick themselves apart and then workout like mad at the gym or restrict what they ate because they had body dysmorphia. Some of you may look at the old me on the left and think I was slimmer and therefore healthier. No health is NOT a size it is a state of wellbeing. I did not have healthy thoughts or love myself. It took years to get to this point and there are still days were I let the dark thoughts creep in. Only yesterday I went to try some jeans on, the server said they would definitely fit (I mean they are the biggest size a 29) I couldn't get them further than my knees. 😪For a split second I was about to crumble because it can be anything that triggers those demons to come back. All those years I couldn't fit into clothes or was told I was too big to ever make it as a model. But mostly the boundaries I had put on myself that my happiness would be determined by a number on the scales or that number in my jeans. Which is so F****d up because the truth is YOU get to decide your self worth no one or nothing else. You have to turn around to yourself and take control and say I am good enough, and I will be happy today and I know that I am beautiful because I am me. So please know that you are not alone, you may think you are the only one who hates what they see in the mirror but trust me a LOT of us have felt or still do feel that way. But you deserve to love yourself, it may take time but start today and never give up. ❤️ #iskralawrence #everyBODYisbeautiful thank you @iammelwells for creating your book the #TheGoddessRevolution sharing your journey and helping to heal our relationships with ourselves and food you are incredible 💕🙌🦄✨💫

I was surprised when I first saw this photo of hers in my Instagram feed. She was not a plus size model in the beginning. So was I! Except the fact that I am not a model to begin with. Hahaha! She is still stunning even until now.

From her very first viral photo in her nude coloured lingerie with bags of chips surrounding her,

to that featured photo. Tell me, why will there be anyone who disagrees with me that she IS the most empowering woman of 2016!

To be honest, she is also the woman who inspires me to love myself and I have been constantly eating regularly and at least go for a walk after dinner and exercise more. Although, results are not shown in my current appearance.

Nevertheless, I feel happier than ever! I begin to look at myself in the mirror more. I love to look at myself while I dress up for work. (HEY EVERYONE! I have extended my internship! I am given more opportunities and one more step towards becoming a female programmer.)

Thinking back, I wonder why do I even waste my time and energy on people's comments about my appearance when they too look like a potato. There were times I even starved myself and lie to my friends that I was saving money. How much do I want to save? I do not know. I spent money on clothes that are trending and I do not like the those trending clothes and style looks on me. I like the french girl kind of look. If I ever want to wear something exotic, that will be Japanese Lolita outfits. Conservative, lady- like and lovely.

Right now, I spend my time doing what I love, wearing what I love and feel comfortable in. And you should too!

We should not live by what people ask us to. We live for ourselves. We live, love, pray.

OOTD #45: Blue Flew Spring

Blue Flew Spring ♥

The most important thing I must have for the start of this year would be anything BLUE (well, except the Monday Blues, or the other blues that’s just a no no); blue buttoned top, blouses, skirts, the ones that make you look chic and is a sure head-turner! (Ladies with a plus-one, hold on tight to your partners) I actually do not have a lot of blue outfits or accessories. Still, blue is my favourite color!

As many of you fashionistas would have known, BLUE IS THE COLOR FOR THIS SPRING!

The most wanted thing for me right now would be a BLUE EYELINER. I was actually thinking of teasing everyone by saying blue eyebrows. Then again, it will no longer be April Fool's Day when I publish this post. Too bad for me.

What is the must-have, currently, will be:

  1. Eyebrows - I actually use Urban Decay Basic One Eyeshadow palette as my eyebrow kit. As featured in many of my posts on the past few collaborations. Furthermore, eyebrows are the most most most important part of your face, it actually sort of reshape your entire face. Making you prettier than you already are. #EveryoneIsBeautiful

  1. Contour - One palette fits everything. I use the same eyeshadow palette as a contour kit too.

  1. Pinkish colored Lipsticks - Kissable lips ready for your prince charming. Muack! I will always apply a thick layer of lip balm on my sexy lips before thinking if I want to apply any lip colours everyday, everytime and anytime. Muuuuuuack! I would usually apply baby pink color on my lips. I recommend to you lip glosses from Lancome! I love them even though they are expensive. Recently, I am obsessed with  drugstores lip colors. Mainly because they are cheap and then I can buy a lot of different shades to try on and see which one suits me the best. For the lip colors that doesn't suit me, I can just use them like a cheek stain! Creamy texture makeup always last a lot longer on me.

  1. Smock dress - Possibly the most suitable length I could find that match my height perfectly will be a short length dress. Right now, I am super duper obsessed with peter pan dresses. The casual but yet formal looking dress. The collar and the button ups on the dress. Making the stern looking professional look to a whole new level of fashionably professional. Otherwise, for casual;

  1. Crop tops!!!! -Right now I have couple of crop tops that I had been wearing repeatedly. They are so comfy and they definitely match more than half of my wardrobe. I know most of you will match them with a pair of jeans. You can still wear them by rolling the ends of the jeans up when the weather is warmer.

  1. Aviator Sunglasses - These Barry Mirror Aviator Sunglasses, instantly draw the attention of people around you as you walk down the street of Soho. Everyone will be looking at you from head to toe. Take every where as your runway. Head up and walk like Gigi.

  1. Comfy shoes - I can't walk in heels so I choose flat covered shoes. Shoes that comes in basic colors and simple details like a few striking gold colored strips. Otherwise a pair of brown sandals that matches the beautiful trees.

Oh wait I had missed out point 8. Caps! It can be used as a back pack accessory! Who still clip their cap on their back pack?! *Left hand up, right hand up. Now surrenderrrr!*
Nevertheless, I can't wait to receive my next pay from my internship so that I could head over to my favourite Sephora and try out other wallet- friendly makeup.  And yes, I will remember to find my blue eyeliner. I was thinking of trying the makeup from Innisfree. What do you think?

For this Spring, I am just going to focus on my already pretty face and fabulous personality. I believe that everyone can pull off any outfits or styles as long as they have confidence when they wear them.

I never had a chance to buy anything that really suits me until I reached 17. Everything I used to own are brown colored. You know the meaning of "brown colored" from the movie, “Confessions of a Shopaholic”? Yes, and those over-sized tomboy clothes that you were told to wear even if you are starting secondary school. They last FOREVER. Oh gosh… Time flies. I have already turned 21.

I still remember ever since I started buying clothes myself. The first thing in my mind was dresses! Unfortunately, the clothes I wanted are all replaced by trends. Still I wanted to get clothes. I bought tank tops and I feel that it looks great on me. Ever since I met friends who studied fashion, they taught me about what type of fabrics are worth paying for when you buy your clothes. I started to play around with colors and found my style.

I hope you had found your Spring vibe! Happy Spring!

OOTD #44: School for Superbowl

I hear the sound of excitement. *Uh huh Uh huh*

So the season of football is back! The first game will be PANTHERS VS BRONCOS, which will be held in Levi's Stadium on February 8!

The weather is cold (it is super rainy here in Singapore), some of us are still having classes. Including me, my academic year is ending in this coming March and then the new academic year will start early in the new month. Despite being so busy, I can still dress up appropriately for school and head out.

For OOTD #44 - School for Superbowl, I will show you how to support your favorite team while trying to get your head in the books

When the academic semester is coming to an end, I will have a lot of presentations to do. As an student studying engineering, I am required to present my final output of my products. I have to wear formally. I want to dress according to the requirements that was given by my lecturers, but I do want to look chic at the same time. Hard? Not if you know what exactly to do!

Here is my outfit for my recent presentation:
Cardigan from JRunway / White Formal Blouse from G2000 / Cobalt Blue Formal Shorts was a hand me down

Have this student meet the outfit requirements for this presentation?

Formal wear ✔
Covered shoes ✔
Smartly dressed ✔
Fashionably dressed ✔
Total outfit grading: A+

And before you start asking... Nope! I have not forgotten about our school bags! What to bring to school when you have a game to watch after school! How to keep your bag as light as possible (I know you want to thank me, so welcome!)

What's in my school-game bag?

1. Student Card
The golden ticket better than a credit card, this card entitles you to many students's discounts that we can use while we are still studying. Being a student has its perks too!

2. Money
Because of my royal entitlement thanks to my student's benefit, I have extra money to spend! *Ka-ching!*

3. Note Book/ Writing papers and homework
I do have some paper homework to submit even though I am a programming student. It is a must to submit your homework on time otherwise marks will be deducted and your teachers do not need your marks.

4. Laptop and charger (Optional unless you really need to)
I own a HP envy dv6 and it weighs a ton. All of my classes requires me to bring my personal laptop. If I have to go out, I will just bring a portable hard disk with all of my assignments that I need to submit on that day and also store everything else like soft copies of lecture notes and also tutorials in to my laptop. Charger is a must to bring, use your school's electricity to charge your laptop before you leave the school so it can help you save electricity at home.

5. Smart devices (Phone is a must)
In case you do not need to bring your laptop on that day, bring your smart devices. Make sure you have the soft copies of the lecture notes and tutorials inside your smart devices so that you can keep up in class. My current most favorite cloud storage is Google Drive.

Google Drive enables you to read your documents offline, and also edit your documents using smart devices and they will sync and update everywhere.

Now you are well-dressed for school and also after-school game match.

Below are some pictures my friend took for me after we were done recording a video for a maths project. Was thinking of sharing them in a new post, but nahhhhh they are too pretty not to share right now!

Just in case, if you're looking for tickets to the game check out TickPick. They're a no-fee ticket marketplace that offers the cheapest tickets and a cool buying experience! There are no surprise fees, so the price you see is the price you pay. There's also a grading system for ticket prices to make sure you're getting a good deal. If you don't like the price people are selling their tickets for you can name your own, so sellers can come to you and make offers! So next time you're looking for NFL tickets - or tickets to any other sporting event or concert - try TickPick!

The TickPick App brings you the best experience when purchasing tickets on the go! It is available in both IOS and Android. Learn more

Yes! Outfit and game ticket are both checked! Now put your head in the game and books!
